The annual DeSoto County Fair is a popular event in the city of Arcadia, located in Central Florida, between Orlando, Sarasota, and Lake Okeechobee. The fair, which dates back to 1953, was started by a group of civic-minded locals to showcase the agricultural products of DeSoto County.
Fair Highlights
DeSoto County Fair features amusement rides, livestock shows, entertainment, vendors, exhibit booths, beauty pageants, and gospel music. Livestock shows include a swine show, a poultry show, a steer show, a rabbit show, and a costume contest.
The Jurassic Kingdom Dinosaur Show is one of the highlights of the fair. The audience gets to see life-like dinosaurs as well as touch and interact with giant dinosaur puppets throughout the show. Attendees can also indulge in fair foods like cotton candy, hamburgers, corn dogs, and strawberry shortcakes.
Schedule
The fair is held annually at the DeSoto County Fairgrounds each February. In 2025, it will run from January 31 to February 8. Typically, fair hours are from 5 pm to 10 pm on weekdays, from 12 pm to 10 pm on Saturdays, and from 12 pm to 6 pm on Sundays.
Tickets
Admission is $7. It includes access to commercial vendors, designated parking, entertainment, and music.
