Observing Everest from the Gokyo Lakes in Nepal 2024
Nepal's largest glaciers with pristine turquoise water are a perfect spot to observe snowy mountains
Best time: mid-September–mid-December | March–May
When you reach Gokyo you will be stunned by the natural beauty of the area. The Everest range is visible from the Gokyo Lakes, which surround you with snow capped mountains. Just imagine yourself standing at the foot of the highest mountains on Earth enjoying the wonderful colours of green turquoise and white, so rich that you will not believe your own eyes.
The trek to the Lakes may be a bit busy during autumn and spring, but taking it at this time will give you the best weather conditions, since it will get extremely cold in winter, and the monsoon season might shower you with downpours. However, keep in mind that the area is getting really cold at nights at any time of the year, so be sure to prepare everything you need properly.
