New Zealand is one of the world's best wine producers. Vineyards and wineries are splendid throughout both the North Island and the South Island, so it would be difficult to embrace everything at one time.

You are advised to choose the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail which covers three main wine producing areas, namely, a capital city of Wellington, rural towns Wairarapa and Marlborough, and the coastal region of Hawke's Bay. This wine tour introduces the gourmets to 80% of New Zealand's finest wine production.

As the country is situated in the southern hemisphere, wine harvests fall on the local autumn months between February and April.
