Vineyards cover 700 hectares of Vienna making it a unique city in Europe or even the whole world. During the warm period, they serve like parks welcoming visitors to spend a day outside. The most popular areas are around Kahlenberg, Bisamberg, and Nussberg.
The Wine Hiking Trail is the best way to explore Vienna's rich wine culture and enjoy the picturesque outskirts of the city. It's accessible only during one weekend in September, as some of the vineyards are closed during the rest of the year.
The Weinwandertag (Wine Hiking Day) traditionally happens on the last weekend of September.
