Wine Hiking Day (Weinwandertag) 2024 in Vienna
A favourite activity for the Viennese during sunny fall days
Dates: September 28–29, 2024
Vineyards cover 700 hectares of Vienna making it a unique city in Europe or even the whole world. During the warm period, they serve like parks welcoming visitors to spend a day outside. Vienna's unique vineyards can be explored every year in autumn on the wine hiking day – with lots of opportunities to sample good wines and enjoy the view of the city. The Weinwandertag (Wine Hiking Day) traditionally happens on the last weekend of September.
Hike Locations
The Wine Hiking Trail is the best way to explore Vienna's rich wine culture and enjoy the picturesque outskirts of the city. Vienna's 600 hectares of vineyards and about 170 vintners in the areas around Kahlenberg, Nussberg, Bisamberg, and Mauer, where the Danube and the proximity of the Vienna Woods provide optimal climatic conditions, are unique among major cities.
