Hickory Apple Festival is a yummy celebration, which runs 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Pittsburgh over a weekend in early October. Naturally, the top draw of this fall gathering is food, so make sure to feast on some apple butter, apple pies, apple crisps, and homemade brick oven bread. The pancake breakfast is available from 7 am through noon. But other than apples, the event offers a host of attractions, like live entertainment and unique crafters.
