Guanacaste Day 2025 in Costa Rica
The celebration of Guanacaste’s annexation to Costa Rica
Dates: July 25
In 1824, after a general vote, Guanacaste became part of Costa Rica. This day is celebrated as a victory of democratic values and unification of the country. Big parades of children wearing masks, folk dances, cattle shows, music performances, and many other festivities take place on this official holiday throughout the country. Yet, the largest celebrations take place in Guanacaste Province. So you can check out its capital city of Liberia and some other popular destinations on the coast, namely Tamarindo or Nosara.
