Even when it's beach weather and snow is nowhere to be found, you can get into the Christmas spirit with the help of colorful, shimmering lights. Downtown Honolulu is exceptionally cozy and festive during the holiday season. So take a stroll around Honolulu City Council to see some holiday magic in a tropical paradise!

Honolulu Hale (December 2, 2023–January 2024, to be confirmed)

Every winter, Honolulu City Lights attract large crowds to Honolulu Hale (or Honolulu’s City Hall). The lights are switched on during the first weekend of December and stay until New Year's Day. The main highlights of the vibrant light display include the large 50-foot (15-m) Christmas Tree and the beloved statues of Shaka Santa and Tūtū Mele, a Hawaiian equivalent of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Visitors can also see indoor trees and Christmas wreaths display. If you drive your own car, parking is available in the Alapai St. Street underground municipal parking garage.

Honolulu Christmas lights can be experienced the best on a trolley tour. The Waikiki Trolley departs from Auahi Street in Ward Village every night during the holiday season. The trolley goes through historic downtown with some Christmas carols and stories to be shared during the tour. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.

Aloha Stadium (unconfirmed in 2023)

Every December, Aloha Stadium in Honolulu hosts a spectacular drive-through display with one million LED lights synchronized to Christmas music, which you can tune into on your car radio. Aloha Land becomes a real wonderland with glowing archways and tunnels, an enchanted forest, and, of course, Santa and his elves. Admission is $50 per car.
