The damson sauce is an ideal accompaniment for desserts like vanilla ice cream and main courses including game —particularly venison or duck. Besides, damson is made into jellies, jams, and chutneys. It is also used in preparing alcoholic drinks including wines and such unique beverages as damson gin and beer. Scottish damsons have short-lasting season which falls on the second half of September. When these plums are in season, you can find them everywhere starting from roadsides to markets and shops.
