Heading out from Sydney to Tasmanian Hobart, the race has been going on for more than 70 times now since its inaugural race in 1945! Beautiful maxi yachts from around the world, including top crews of New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Switzerland, China and many other will show you their whole magnificence, just wait for them at the finish line! The race is considered to be one of the top three most difficult offshore yacht races and thus is very competitive. Moreover, the race happens on Christmas, and Christmas in Tasmania occurs in summer. Do you really need more reasons?
The Race traditionally starts in December 26 (Boxing Day) and lasts for about 4-5 days.
