Harvest Caye in Belize 2024-2025
A tropical paradise in Southern Belize
Best time: November–May
Harvest Caye is a small island located in Southern Belize, about five miles from the town of Placencia. The 75 ac (35 ha) key, owned by the Norwegian Cruise Lines, was turned into a perfect tropical getaway with several large swimming pools, pristine beaches occupying about 7 ac (2.8 ha), many restaurants, and various recreation facilities. The most popular activities on the island include zip lining, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. The best time to visit Harvest Caye is the dryer period from November through May.
The enormous pool features cozy cabanas for privacy and relaxation, a swim-up bar, waterfalls, and splash-zones for kids. The little ones would also love “Wildlife Experience,” with butterflies, birds, and snakes on display. The island's lagoon is perfect for floating, kayaking, and SUP.
If by chance you get bored on the island, take a ferry to the Placencia peninsula. Ferry tickets should be booked in advance since the number of passengers on the ferries is limited. You can visit Placencia fishing village surrounded by mangroves, golf courses, and some of the most beautiful beaches in Belize. On the peninsula, you can also explore Cockscomb Basin Nature Reserve, home of endangered jaguars.
