The city of Gabrovo is considered to be the Bulgarian capital of fun. Each odd year, a satire and humor festival is held in the town. The event attracts fans of laughter and cheerful jokes from all corners of the Earth. The carnival is the culmination of this event, gathering thousands of jokers from Bulgaria and many other countries.
The symbol of the carnival is the black Gabrovo cat, whose gigantic image is carried by participants in the procession. Musicians, decorated wagons, and floats move through the central streets. Comedy performances, brass band parades, sports competitions, dances, concerts, and games keep everyone busy during the festival.
