Rose Gardens in Italy 2025
The iconic symbol of passion and love blooms all around Italy
Best time: May–mid-June
Roses are widespread all around Italy. Whether they are red, burgundy, white or yellow, they all have their own charm and beautiful smell. A great place to visit is the Rome Rose Garden, which is considered to be one of the best 30 rose gardens in the world. It's hard to believe, but this is where you can find almost 1000 different rose varieties.
Another good spot is the Florence Rose Garden, which is a bit smaller with 370 rose types. The garden is located on the slopes of the hill below the Piazzale Michelangelo and gives some of the best views of Florence. On top of the park, you will find the Secret Garden with many different flowers, the city panorama, hills, and the Arno valley.
In the Nervi district around Genoa, there is a reserve called The park of Nervi with a fascinating Rose Garden that is directly connected to the seafront and seaside.
The best time to enjoy these romantic flowers is May through to mid-June, but the season stretches from late April until late June, sometimes even July. In June, there is a Rose Festival that takes place in the Genoa region. The festival doesn't focus on the aesthetic beauty of roses, but instead on the products made by roses, such as delicious jams, honey, cakes, ice cream; even types of rose ravioli, sausage and bread!
