From a pub crawl to a haunted ghost tour in downtown Pittsburgh, there are many ways to celebrate Halloween in Western Pennsylvania. During October only, you get to see Pittsburgh's historic landmarks and learn about their dark secrets and ghosts lurking in them.
Phantom Fall Fest at Kennywood Park (September 20-27, 2024)
Kennywood's Phantom Fall Fest offers a Halloween experience tailored to your preference. During the day, enjoy family-friendly fun with over 30 rides, festive fall food, and autumn decorations. Kiddieland and Thomas Town™ are open for the little ones, providing safe thrills and entertainment. As night falls, the atmosphere shifts dramatically. From 6 p.m. onward, prepare for extreme scares with six haunted houses—including the new mALICE in Wonderland Unleashed—and four fearsome scare zones. Phantom Fall Fest lets you enjoy a blend of family fun and spine-chilling frights all in one visit. A one-day ticket is $37.50 online or $75 if purchased with cash at the gate.
ScareHouse (September 2-November 3, 2024)
For those seeking more thrills, The ScareHouse, listed among America's scariest Halloween attractions by the Travel Channel, is an experience not to be missed. Located within The Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, it features intense scares with demons, clowns, and mutants. The ScareHouse is known for its immersive and heavily themed scares, which are updated annually. This year, you can face the chilling experiences of The Chipped Fang, The Basement Is Back, and the Stalked by a Killer Escape Room. Tickets are priced at $40 to $90.
Hundred Acres Manor in South Park (September 13-November 2, 2024)
Another notable Halloween destination is Hundred Acres Manor in South Park, which features six interconnected attractions and scare zones. At Hundred Acres Manor, you can't leave until you've experienced every frightful corner of the haunt. Attractions include the Haunted House, Scream Bar, The Maze, and Not-So-Scary Wagon Rides. General admission is $30. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 7 pm to 10 pm, Friday and Saturday from 7 pm to 11:30 pm, and Sunday from 7 pm to 10 pm.
Haunted Pittsburgh Ghost Tours (May-November 2024)
Haunted Pittsburgh Ghost Tours delve into the city’s eerie history and spine-chilling stories. Starting at Station Square, the tour ascends Mt. Washington on the Monongahela Incline, which is said to be haunted. You'll then explore one of Pittsburgh’s most haunted neighborhoods, where storytellers recount the city’s macabre past. These tours run from May to early November, with Friday and Saturday tours at 7 p.m. and additional tours in October. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for kids 12 and under.
