Halloween in Seoul: Festival & Show 2024
Experience Halloween South-Korean style
Dates: late September–late October (on hold)
Halloween has become very popular in South Korea since the early 2000s. In Seoul, it's common to see Halloween costumes at supermarkets and special decorations on the streets. Many small children dress up in costumes and go trick-or-treating. Many Halloween-themed parties take place at Seoul bars and clubs. There is a Halloween pub crawl, a Halloween booze cruise, and many special scary attractions at theme parks.
However, after the tragic crowd crush during a festival in 2022 in Seoul, South Korea is scaling back Halloween celebrations. Major retailers are avoiding Halloween promotions, and police are urging the public to exercise caution in crowded areas.
Zombie Run Festival (on hold)
Zombie Run Festival is one of the most massive Halloween events in Seoul. It attracts thousands of runners to Let's Run Park Seoul (Seoul Race Park). Before the run, three flags are given to participants, that they should protect from zombies. The run lasts for 90 min and covers 2 mi (3 km). Participants can choose between a zombie and a human team. Zombies are given costumes and a make-over. After the run, participants head to a club to party and celebrate Halloween. Zombies drink with humans to celebrate their survival.
Escape: Psycho Circus (on hold)
Escape: Psycho Circus is a special show and festival originating in Southern California. In South Korea, it's held at Seoul Grand Park, Gwacheon-si. A popular attraction features Halloween mazes, themed stages, and many costumed performers. The musical lineup includes EDM, house, drum and bass, techno, dance-punk, and trance. Centered around a horror theme, the event offers two nights of monstrous beats and incredible special effects. In addition to music from hell, there will be plenty of freaks, fortune-tellers, contortionists, and various bizarre characters.
