The Seattle Marathon is an annual race held in Seattle, Washington on the last Sunday of November, during the Thanksgiving weekend. The first marathon was held in 1970 when a group of 38 runners ran the marathon. Now it's one of the largest events in the Pacific Northwest with around 15,000 runners participating in the race, which makes Seattle one of the top 10 largest marathons in the USA.
This race features a beautiful route with a few small hills. In 2018 a new course was established, which is flatter than the original one. The course begins on South 5th Avenue, proceeds onto Burke Gilman Trail, goes around Lake Union, and then makes a loop and finishes inside Memorial Stadium. The 25% flat course is definitely going to get popular with local runners who will be going to new places and seeing new things.
