Seattle Marathon 2024
The major long-distance race of the Pacific Northwest
Dates: December 1, 2024
The Seattle Marathon takes place annually on the last Sunday of November, coinciding with the Thanksgiving weekend. Established in 1970, the race began with just 38 participants and has grown significantly over the years. Now, it attracts approximately 15,000 runners, making it one of the largest marathons in the Pacific Northwest and placing it among the top 10 largest marathons in the United States. Various race categories, including a marathon, half marathon, and a series of community runs, promote fitness and community spirit in Seattle.
Marathon Route & Schedule
The Seattle Marathon features a scenic route that includes a few small hills. In 2018, a new, flatter course was introduced, starting on South 5th Avenue, proceeding onto the Burke Gilman Trail, looping around Lake Union, and finishing inside Memorial Stadium. This design includes about 25% flat terrain, which is likely to attract local runners seeking new experiences. The full marathon begins at 7 am, followed by the half marathon at 7:30 am.
Registration Fee
The registration fees for the Seattle Marathon are structured as follows: the full marathon costs $180, while the half marathon is priced at $160. For those opting for the virtual marathon, the registration fees range from $100 to $120.
