There are over one hundred varieties of litchi in Taiwan. The most popular variety is Midnight Leaves which has a market share exceeding 80%. Also it's easy to find such varieties as Sticky Rice, March Rouge, Cassia, Seaport, Sandy basin, Portview, Kaohsiung Early Sunrise, and Redskins. Taiwanese litchi is juicy with tender flesh, bursting with fresh aroma.
The harvest season falls on summer months of June and July and is completed in two weeks. Although the harvest season is very short, the quality of the fruit is at its optimal and the duration of the harvest season ensures a fair market price for consumers.
