Miette Hot Springs in Banff & Jasper National Parks 2025
Nothing is more relaxing than soaking in the hottest mineral pools of the Canadian Rockies
Best time: early May-early October
The Miette Hot Springs includes two cold pools and two hot pools located in Alberta's Jasper National Park. It was originally built out of logs and moss by coal miners. Each hot spring in the Rocky Mountains has a different mix of temperature, gases, and minerals. Water in the Miette Hot Springs is rich in potassium, calcium, and sulfate, and is heated by the earth's crust. The water here is regularly tested for quality and the average temperature stands at 37°C and 40°C.
The hot springs are usually open to visitors between early May and early October. Apart from taking a dip in nature's pool, taking a hike is another great option as many trails are located near the hot springs. This is an outstanding destination for a day of sightseeing, wildlife watching or relaxing.
