Persimmon in Bulgaria 2024
Bulgarians call this fruit the "paradise apple," but the Latin translation of persimmon means "food of the Gods"
Best time: September–November
Bulgaria's fruit season closes with a persimmon or "paradise apple," as it is called here. It is not as popular as other fruits, so massive harvests are not collected. However, you can easily find it in Karlovo, Plovdiv, Haskovo, Sopot or Burgas. The village of Hrischeni even holds a persimmon festival every year.
As a rule, persimmons get ripe at the end of November and can be purchased in shops until the end of December. Bulgarian persimmon is a sweet, fragrant, and incredibly delicious!
