The Georgia State Fair takes place every fall at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia, about a 40-minute ride from Atlanta. The fair features many exciting attractions, a speedway, live music, delicious fair food, and spectacular carnival rides. There are plenty of kiddie rides and family fun over the span of ten days. Agriculture is the most important industry in Georgia, and the fair fully reflects that with various displays, shows and a petting zoo.
Races at Atlanta Motor Speedway are among the biggest highlights of the fair. During the fair opening weekend, legendary drivers from all over the U.S. compete for national titles.
The first State Fair in Georgia took place in 1851. For over 150 years the main highlights of the fair have been agricultural competitions, exhibits and entertainment. It features over 50 midway rides, a petting zoo, animal displays, a stunt bike show, as well as major concerts with national stars like Rare Earth, Starship, and Dustin Lynch. The general admission price at the gate is $10 for adults. Admission covers all shows and special events, but for rides, you need to purchase a ride wristband. The fair is open from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and offers extended hours during weekends. Keep in mind that you cannot bring your own pets to the fair, only service dogs are allowed.
