The event’s administration claims that this event will give you “the best 10 days of October,” and for a good reason–the Georgia-Carolina State Fair features cool activities for everyone. Ranging from traditional carnival games and rides to livestock exhibits and competitions, this fall celebration in Augusta, Georgia, is perfect for a family getaway.
Fair Entertainment
At the fair, you’ll have a chance to go on various thematic rides, participate in extraordinary competitions, attend one-of-a-kind agricultural exhibitions, treat yourself to mouthwatering dishes from local vendors, buy handmade souvenirs, sing and dance at a live music concert, and more. There will also be a children’s zone with face painting and fun games for any age.
Carnival Midway Rides
James E. Strates Shows, which claims to be America's only railroad carnival, annually welcomes fairgoers at the Georgia-Carolina State Fair to its thrilling rides. Hop on a ferry wheel with your loved one and observe the fair happenings from the bird's eye view, or enjoy a fairytale ride on a carousel. Some attractions, such as the Haunted Mansion and the Fireball, will make your heart pound, while slides and swings are completely suitable for families and children. Unlimited ride tickets cost $30. Individual ride tickets cost $1 each.
Schedule
The Georgia-Carolina State Fair operates from 5 pm until 10 pm Monday through Friday and from 12 pm until 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The rides are open until 11 pm on all days of the fair.
Tickets & Admission Specials
Advance admission to the fair costs $7, while admission at the gate costs $10. Children 5 and under can enter for free with an adult. There are several admission specials, including Family Special on Saturdays and Sundays, during which families with children under 12 can purchase admission tickets for $7 or admission and ride tickets for $30. On Sundays, seniors over 55 years old and individuals with church bulletin can purchase tickets for $7.
On Monday, October 21st, a group of seven people can buy a pass for $60, which grants admission to the fair and unlimited rides. On Thursday, October 24th, bring an empty can of Sprite or Coca-Cola and enjoy a discounted admission of $7. Tickets for military personnel, Augusta University students, government, Georgia Power, and Plant Vogtle employees cost $7.

The event takes place at the Georgia Carolina State Fairgrounds in the city of Augusta, which is located near the Georgia-South Carolina border. Augusta is located approximately 77 miles (124 km) from Columbia, South Carolina. Augusta's South Carolina counterpart, North Augusta is situated just across the Savannah River.
