Taking place over Easter weekend, the festival is one of Barbados' most important community events and the largest of its kind on the island, with activities for the entire family to enjoy.
Schedule of Events
Since 1967, the Oistins Fish Festival has been one of the town's most popular attractions. The festival celebrates the vibrant fishing community with a variety of activities, including fish cleaning competitions, workshops, boat races, local arts, and traditional Bajan cuisine. Most of the food vendors set up near Christ Church and the fish market. Popular events include the Greasy Pole, Net Throwing, Strong Man Boat Pull, Fish Boning, and Dolphin Skinning.
Other highlights are the heritage walk, egg and spoon marathon, 5k Walk and Run, and the Great Tray Race. New additions like the Celebrity Cook-Off, Celebrity Football Matches, Sea Tuh Stove, Sip and Paint, the Easter Bonnet Making Workshop, Pan Riddim in de Bay, and Soca in de Bay have brought fresh energy to the festival. Additionally, the Blessing in de Bay Gospel Concert, Easter Bonnet Parade, and Bonnet Making Workshop, held before the festival, continue to keep traditions alive for younger generations.
