Discover one of the most interesting hiking spots on Earth—the Sierra de Tejada Almijarra Natural Park and the natural area of the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo. This is a coastal strip that begins by Nerja city.

One of the most popular activities is to hike the 1508 m El Cielo Mountain, located near Nerja. El Cielo is only 6 km away from the coastline, which is why it is so popular among visitors. The mountain is great for beginners and promises breathtaking views and great landscapes.

Hot and dry summer weather poses a threat of fires. Therefore, the access to the natural park is restricted during the hottest time of year, that's roughly from mid-June to mid-September. During that time, you can hike the area, but your vehicle is to be left at Nerja Caves, and this means you'll have to walk additional 10 km, which is a monotonous flat forestry terrain. The best time to hike these mountains is spring and autumn. Winter is also good provided that you have warm clothes.
