Step into a real Halloween atmosphere with this sparkling procession
Dates: November 9, 2024
For many Richterswil children, the day of Räbechilbi is their favorite day of the year. Räbechilbi is a traditional fall festival, and children get ready for it in advance, carving lanterns out of turnips. Overall, around 30 tons of autumn turnips are processed into artistic lanterns. After dark, the people of Richterswil gather and carry the turnips around the neighborhood.
Räbechilbi is the largest annual festival in Richterswil, located within a 20-minute drive south of Zürich. Richterswil Parade takes place on the second Saturday in November. As darkness falls, lanterns turn this Swiss village into a fairy tale fantasy with thousands of warm twinkling lights. The center of town is aglow with turnip lanterns. In addition to the lanterns, the event features marching bands and decorated floats. Vendors and food stands in the center of town are offering carved lanterns and delicious autumn specialties.
