Papaya is one of Taiwan's most loved fruits thanks to its superb nutritional content and delicious sweetness. It is mostly grown in Tainan, Pingtung, and Kaohsiung Counties. Papaya is a great souce of Vitamins A, C, and E, as well as calcium, phosphate and iron, with relatively few calories. Papaya can be eaten fresh or in smoothies such as papaya milk smoothy. Dried papaya is used as a vegetable in soups. In Taiwan, green papaya is added to pork sparerib soup and is absolutely delicious.
