Flowers of Mainau Island in Bavaria 2025

An island located in the middle of the Lake Constance is one large flowerbed. Mainau is home to a huge variety of flower and tree species, which bloom during the spring and summer periods. In spring, starting from late March until mid-May, you can spot millions of tulips, narcissi, daffodils, hyacinths, pansies, forget-me-nots, and primroses. Later on from late May and during June visitors can enjoy rhododendrons and azaleas.

During the summer and early autumn months, Mainau Island is covered by thousands of rose species and dahlias. You can see over 30,000 rose plants throughout the whole island. It is also home to peacocks, goats, and ponies which live in the petting zoo. Here you can find some of the unique historical buildings, such as Schloss Mainau (Mainau Castle), Schlosskirche St. Marien (Castle Church St. Marien), or the Gärtnerturm (gardener tower). The island is a perfect place for romantic dates as well as family walks. Tourist attractions and some services are closed in winter.

Mainau Castle dates back to the 18th century. The island park that can be reached from the city of Konstanz through the bridge and is open daily from 7: 10 am to 6 pm. The island that once belonged to Teutonic knights is now owned by Prince Lennart Bernadotte, Count of Wisborg, originally a Prince of Sweden and Duke of Småland.
