Rothenburg ob der Tauber’s Christmas Market, also known as Reiterlesmarkt, is an annual traditional Advent pre-Christmas market held in the picturesque squares around the town hall. It offers an unforgettable winter experience, lots of classical and holiday Christmas music, delicious Franconian culinary treats, and unique gifts.
Market Attractions
Appropriately decorated wooden stalls are lined along the narrowly winding streets, and we welcome you to check them out. As for the food, you can try crispy fried Bratwürste, savory Flammkuchen, and perfectly seasoned gingerbread Lebkuchen. These delicacies are so mouth-watering that you might even fall in love with them. But be careful! It'll be so wonderful that you will not want to leave. The aromas of cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and brown sugar might tempt you to visit Reiterlesmarkt over and over again.
Wanting to experience the true charm of German Christmas, thousands of visitors are drawn in each year to the cozy town of Rothenburg. The market features more than 50 vendor stalls, all offering Christmas-themed decor, traditional festive beverages, and food. The stage at the Grüner Markt showcases thrilling performances of local brass bands playing Christmas hits and beloved songs.

The market normally begins on the Friday before the first Advent, which marks the beginning of preparation before the birth of Christ. The festivities usually span from 11 am until 7 pm from Monday until Thursday and from 11 am until 8 pm from Friday until Sunday.
Location of Reiterlesmarkt
The market is situated in the picturesque town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, mainly at Market Square, Grüner Markt, and Kirchplatz near St. Jacobs Church. The entire old town transforms into a Christmas fairytale during the holiday market. Some events also unfold at an open-space atrium in the Town Hall.
