One of the best decisions for this holiday season would be putting on warm clothes and walking through bright Christmas markets in Reykjavik. This city transforms into a winter wonderland of stalls with delicious food and an awe-inspiring Christmas atmosphere. Are you ready to take the plunge?

Christmas village in Hafnarfjörður (November 26– December 23, 2022)

One of the most delightful Christmas markets in Reykjavik is located 20 minutes away from this city in the heart of Hafnarfjörður village. The locals decorate their houses, shops, and streets to celebrate Christmas in the best possible way. There, you can find different stalls full of gourmet cakes, crafts, and colorful gifts under the Christmas tree. The market is open every Saturday and Sunday during Advent.

Christmas market at Hjartagarður (December 2-23, 2022)

Another Christmas market in Reykjavik is a traditional European Christmas market held at Hjartagarðurinn. Featuring beautiful crafts, sweets, delicious mulled wine, and Christmas food, this market offers you the opportunity to celebrate holidays in a warm and wonderful atmosphere. It’s open from 4 pm to 10 pm or from 3 pm to 10 pm on weekends through December.

Christmas market at Ingólfstorg Square (December 2-23, 2022)

This Reykjavik Christmas market is a bit different from the previous two since it features something more. In addition to festively decorated stalls with food, drinks, and gifts, the Christmas market at Ingólfstorg Square has a huge ice rink, where you can try ice-skating and let your hair down. The market is free; however, you have to rent skates and helmets.

Christmas market at Elliðavatnsbær in Heiðmörk (November 26–December 18, 2022)

Every year, the Reykjavík Forestry Association manages the Christmas market at Elliðavatnsbær in Heiðmörk. It’s a great opportunity to take your family and walk in the forest while choosing beautiful items such as a Christmas tree for the holidays. Also, you can buy unique art and food in the Christmas handicraft market. It is open every Advent weekend from 1 pm to 5 pm.
