Baden-Baden, located in southwestern Germany near the border with France, is famous for its spa resorts. Meanwhile, Christkindelsmarkt is another Baden-Baden attraction worth visiting. The traditional Christmas market, set up in front of the Baden-Baden Kurhaus, is the most beautiful and romantic destination in the city during the holiday season. So take a stroll through the famous Lichtentaler Allee and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the winter wonderland!
Market Program
Christkindelsmarkt features about 100 festively decorated huts, adorned with thousands of twinkling Christmas lights. The market smells of cinnamon, roasted almonds, and gingerbread, and everyone is welcome to try local Christmas treats. In addition to holiday foods, market stalls offer unique crafts and gifts, like wooden toys, Christmas decor, candles, scarves, and jewelry for any taste.
Foodies can sample gourmet treats and wine in one of the luxurious igloos, while children will definitely enjoy carousel rides and visits from Saint Nikolaus. Entertainment at the market also includes live open-air performances by various singers, choirs, bands, and theaters. Fairytale Lane showcases German fairytales, while the Ice Arena offers an active way to embrace the Christmas spirit at an open-air ice skating rink.
Food & Beverages
While dining in stunning igloos is an unforgettable experience, you can also opt for a traditional stroll through the market and grab various treats on the go. Traditional grilled sausages, dishes made out of harvest from the Black Forest, dinnedes, and mulled wine are beloved treats at the market. Vendors also serve dishes from other cuisines, including Turkish food, langos from Hungary, and more. The confectionery menu features Magenbrot, also known as stomach bread, gingerbread, goufrais, and chestnuts.
