The Canary Islands with its constant off-shore winds and trade winds are a real paradise for windsurfers. It is definitely the best windsurfing destination in Europe. North/northeasterly trade winds are particularly intense during the summer months.

Constant wind and the best waves can be found on the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura. All these islands offer schools and equipment rental for windsurfers. On the northeastern shore of Gran Canaria, you can meet surfers of all levels. Pozo Izquierdo and Playa Vargas beaches are mostly preferred by professionals, while beginners usually choose the south of the island to practice.

Corralejo in Fuerteventura offers seven km of beautiful white sand beaches, half of which is for kitesurfing. Sotavento and Corralejo are the most popular among windsurfers. Tazacorte is another ideal place for trying windsurfing for the first time. If you are a rider of an intermediate level, try out some spots with constant winds at Playa de El Médano in Tenerife.

Lanzarote island offers regular northeastern trade winds blowing from April to September. This brings a lot of fun and excitement for windsurfers. There are also lots of schools and qualified instructors for kitesurfers. You can find several kitesurfing schools near Famara, which is considered the best kitesurfing location on the island.
