Sapodilla Season Featured in
Sapodillas, also known as chicozapote or níspero, are sweet and tasty, often served as a dessert. Fruits are big and can be eaten with or without peel. The pulp of the fruit is yellow or pink, sometimes red when it is ripe. It is rich in sugar, so it can serve as a nice candy substitute! In the past the gummy latex harvested from the trees was used as a chewing gum, especially loved by kids.
