The city of Lausanne, situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, is known for its winter festival Bô Noël, blending the Christmas market experience, art installations, and various entertainment. Bô Noël, held since 2015, allows visitors to discover the historic city overlooking the lake in all its beauty and diversity. The festival attracts about 350,000 visitors from late November to late December.
Modern and hip, Lausanne Christmas Market is located at Place Pépinet. Creators' Market is perfect for gift shopping, where visitors can find an original gift or souvenir made by artisans from the region. Local Market at Europe Square is a great place for foodies, where they can savor delicious fondues and various gastronomic specialties offered in comfortable igloos and chalets.
Other highlights of Bô Noël include the Ferris Wheel in the Place Centrale and Children's Village on the Cathedral Esplanade, operating every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon from 1 pm to 7 pm. Kids can enjoy pony rides, Father Christmas visits, storytelling in a yurt, a playground, and a petting zoo. Festivities of Bô Noël in Lausanne usually last till New Year’s Eve, ending with a big New Year bash!
