Bridgetown’s Run Barbados Marathon Weekend spans three days each December, offering participants a scenic run through the capital’s historic seaport. Event Highlights

The Run Barbados Marathon has become one of the island's premier sporting events, celebrated for its festive atmosphere and camaraderie. This unique race takes participants on a scenic journey along Barbados' beautiful east coast, combining the island's friendly culture and stunning views with a historic course. Celebrating 41 years in 2024, this marathon offers a special three-day experience from December 6 to 8, making it a memorable event for all who join.

Race Events

Choose from a variety of runs, including a Fun Mile, 5K Walk, 5K Run, 10K Run, and Half-Marathon. The Fun Mile kicks off on December 6 at Garrison Savannah, St. Michael. On December 7, festivities start at 2 PM at Barclays Park, with races like the 10K at 4:10 PM, 5K Run at 4:15 PM, and 5K Walk at 4:20 PM. Finally, on December 8, runners begin and end their Half-Marathon and Marathon at Barclays Park, where marathoners complete two laps. Refreshments and entertainment stations are available throughout.

Significance

The Run Barbados Marathon Weekend began in 1983, thanks to locals Sir Austin Sealy and Carl Bayley. Over forty years later, it remains one of Barbados' premier sporting events, renowned for its festive atmosphere and camaraderie under the theme "Come for the Run, Stay for the Fun!" Drawing participants from around the globe, this annual event offers a special challenge medal for those who compete on all three event days, adding an extra layer of excitement to the experience.
