Mango is the fruit symbol of Goa. Its history in India goes back over 4000 years. 56% of all mangoes produced in the world come from India. They are grown in almost every state of India, each of which has its own variety. In total, there are more than 1000 varieties of mango in the country. This fruit is sweet, juicy, and full of vitamins, especially vitamin A. Mango season in Goa lasts from February to the end of the summer. The most common type of this fruit here is Alphonso. These are medium sized, weigh approximately 250g, and have a firm and fibreless pulp.
