From late March to early April, when spring is finally settling down around the Lofoten Islands, the sun and warmth draw a multitude of the best cod from the Barents Sea to spawn in the surrounding waters. Meanwhile, up to 1,000 sports anglers excited with the idea of setting a new fishing record come here to compete in the cod fishing competition (Skrei fiske). The largest cod caught near Lofoten Islands so far weighed 57 pounds (25.88 kg). Who knows, maybe you will break the record!
