Funchal Marathon 2025 in Madeira

The mountainous landscape of Madeira might suggest a tough marathon, but the Funchal Marathon organizers have designed a route that is almost entirely flat and comfortable. So, don't hesitate to run the 42 km and experience the beauty of the "pearl of the Atlantic."

Route

The Funchal Marathon begins at Rua do Gorgulho and follows Estrada Monumental, passing through Avenida do Infante and Câmara de Lobos. Runners complete four laps along these routes, with turning points at key locations like the Madeira Congress Center and Assicom Roundabout. The transition phase takes runners through Rua do Aljube, Rua do Bettencourt and Praça da Autonomia. The final phase includes multiple laps around Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses before finishing at the bus parking lot near Empresa de Eletricidade da Madeira.

Schedule

The Funchal Marathon schedule is as follows: The marathon begins at 7:00 AM, the Mini Marathon starts at 8:30 am, and the Half Marathon kicks off at 9 am. The Funchal Marathon has a 6-hour time limit, while the Mini Marathon is set to finish in 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the Half Marathon in 3 hours.
