Hiking the Besseggen Ridge

Jotunheimen National Park is listed as one of the most popular places in Norway for hiking. Here you can discover beautiful lakes, impressive glaciers and amazing mountains.

The highest peak of Norway—Galdhøpiggen (2,469 metres above sea level)—and another 200 peaks over 2,000 metres are found in the park. But if you are not so much into climbing, you can enjoy six flatter parts of the national park—Dovrefjell, Rondane, Jotunheimen, Breheimen, Reinheimen, and Dovre.

Another option is to hike the Besseggen Ridge, one of the most popular attractions in Norway. If you'd like to spend the night here, you don't have to worry about accommodations—you will find everything, from hotels to campings.

The best time to visit the Jotunheimen National Park is from mid-June to late August when most of the hiking trails are open.
