Best time to go to Santorini

New Year's Eve 2024-2025

A natural wonder in the southern Aegean Sea is a perfect spot for a quiet NYE celebration

Dates: December 31

New Year's Eve

Santorini is famous for its unique scenery, volcanic rocks and beaches, and amazing sunsets. One of the most popular Greek islands is usually crowded during the high season, so winter holidays provide a great chance to have this amazing island all for yourself. Many hotels and restaurants in Santorini are closed in December; however, you can still find a place to stay in Oia, famous for its white-and-blue houses, carved into rugged clifftops. Fira, the island's capital, also offers plenty of activities during New Year's Eve.

Some large hotels and resorts in Fira and Oia host fireworks and celebrations with live music and dances. Many places also offer considerable discounts during the off-season. Restaurants offer plenty of fish and seafood dishes in the winter, and champagne flows at the countdown parties.

If you are going to spend New Year’s Eve in Santorini, mind that it could be rather windy here during the winter season. Air temperature is usually comfortable for hiking, sightseeing, and exploring the beautiful island. Some occasional rain showers do pass by, and the skies could be cloudy, but sunny and clear days are more likely than not.
