Salzburg Christmas Market Featured in
Salzburg Christkindlmarkt is one of the oldest in the world. Located in the heart of the city at the Dom and Residenzplatz, the Christmas market in Salzburg is the main highlight of the Advent season in the city. The Advent Market tradition dates back in Salzburg to the late 15th century. It boasts a unique atmosphere and fairytale ambiance due to its location at the foot of the Hohensalzburg fortress.
Salzburg Christmas Market features 100 wooden chalets offering handmade gifts, crafts, decor items, and delicious foods. Mulled wine, hot punch, and the aromas of cinnamon and citrus contribute to the holiday atmosphere, enhanced with specially designed lighting, stretching from one market stall to another.
Entertainment at the Salzburg Christkindlmarkt includes Krampus parades, Christmas carol singing, concerts, visits by the “Christ Child”, Christmas stories readings, and much more. Traditional music is performed on the square every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The market operates from 10 am to 8:30 pm Monday through Thursday, from 10 am to 9 pm on Friday, from 9 am to 9 pm on Saturday, and from 9 am to 8:30 pm on Sunday.
